You Say Hola, I Say Hello is a sculpture made for the Harbourview Sculpture Trail 2016, on the Te Atatu Penisula in Auckland. The work is about the fact that the site is directly opposite, if you dug through the earth, El Gastor, a small town in Spain. The work takes inspiration from a tin can telephone and a speaker inside the sculpture allows people to hear a soundscape from the opposite side of the world playing. I also spent time with students at Rutherford Primary School where we have started making a soundscape of their school, with the intention of making connections with the people of El Gastor to develop opportunities to build on the initial sculpture work.
